Just For Adam

My friend Adam has been fussing at me lately
because he misses the construction type updates
that made this blog famous.
He wants me to knock off the decorating  and get back to
the get down and dirty  stuff.

Hey Adam!
Get a load of this BAD BOY!

He is waiting his turn...
waiting for the weather to cooperate...
waiting to dig in the dirt...

Let's call him Brutus, shall we?

This is what they will use to dig out our end of the pit and extend it along the back of our yard.
It rained a few days ago, so Brutus will have to wait til things dry out a little.

Meanwhile,
this bad boy was spotted
in many places
all day for
several days,
stirring up dirt,
everywhere he went.

Can you see him?

Where'd he go???
He was here a minute ago...

Found him!

See all that dirt?
It was full of rocks, sticks and bits of glass.

Guess who got to pick it all up?
Mwah.

Yes, in between numerous coffee breaks
and errand running
and laundry, and cooking and other life-essential tasks,
I picked up several truck loads of 5 gallon buckets
full.
of.

R.O.C.K.S.

Sadly, there are no pictures of this phenomenon.
You're going to have to trust me on this one.
I had a cold too.
Sniff, sniff!

The end result is stunningly smooth, even and ready
for the little green seedlings to push forth from the earth
as the gentle fall rains drizzle down.

Adam, you will be pleased to learn that
work on the retaining wall was begun today.
Feel free to stop by and help my poor tired achy husband
shovel, tamp, heave, level,
Repeat.
For the next two weeks.

I will be inside eating bonbons
and decorating my fool head off!

  1. For crying out loud, save ME some bonbons! Thanks for the pictures. I am glad I didn't have to endure any "cute girly pictures" or bras hanging in the laundry room.
