Too close!

Two years ago today the sky came  barreling down on our neighbor town, Joplin Missouri,
in the form of a devastating tornado.

As I watch the devastation in Moore ,Oklahoma this week,
 the pictures look eerily familiar.

They look too much the same.

  The twisted metal.

The trees stripped bare of their bark and leaves.

Piles and piles of rubble and debris.

My heart aches for them because I know what they are facing.

I worked in Joplin clearing debris.  For hours and hours in the sweltering heat.
The piles and piles seemed to never end and never go away.

I know how overwhelming it feels to drive around town and not know where you are because all of the familiar places are gone.

I know how long it takes to recover and rebuild.  Joplin is getting there.
It doesn't hurt to drive around there any more.

Joplin is rebuilding and growing.  She will never look the same, but she has gone beyond surviving and she is thriving.

And so will Moore,,,in time.

If I could tell the good people of Moore one thing, it's this...
there is an end to the piles.
and the flowers will bloom again.
Ok, two things.

Flowers for Moore .....
prayers for Moore...
hope for Moore...

Ahhhh the Ozarks Part 2

Well I guess the joke is on me....I was going to write a post about how I just skipped over winter all together and look what happened!  We slipped away for the last weekend of Spring Break, just a little get out of town trip and totally had to high tail it back home before we got completely trapped on these Ozark roads!

The Easter weekend is looking pretty gray according to the forecast, but I can say that it could be worse. We could be looking at more of this:

Remember these two trees from my last post? (yes I know that was a long time ago. ahem)

The ride home was a nail biter and took us quite a bit longer than usual.  We were pretty glad to get home to "normal" weather!  But then, in Kansas what is normal really?

The day ended with this pretty sight....

Ahhhhhh Kansas!

Wishing you Easter Blessings and some warm sunshine to go with the day!

All the best,

mb
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." Ralph Waldo Emerson
